Religious Purists Hypocrites

Almost two years ago, Louisiana passed a law that started a wave that’s since spread across the entire U.S. south, and has changed the way people there can access adult content. As of today, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina join the list of 17 states that can’t access some of the most popular porn sites on the internet, because of regressive laws that claim to protect children but restrict adults’ use of the internet, instead.
Seventeen states somehow completely forgot about constitutional freedom of speech and fully blocked some of the most popular porn sites (same as Sharia led countries do), while also claiming the same freedom of speech to allow fascist content and anti-scientific (read “complete lies”) theories from anti-vaxing to straight soviet disinformation (the first seems to be a subclass of the second).
I am well aware of the damage porn can do to kids, especially how it can pervert their expectations regarding the opposite sex or to their self-esteem.
I have also worked in an industry which has been actively monitoring the internet for child abuse sites and blacklisted them in a matter of hours from coming live. Child abuse is no joke.
But the hypocrites blocking porn for the sake of their children - are.
I am saying this not for the love of porn, but for the conjugated effect of blocking porn while allowing fascist / radical speech and disinformation has.
While purists say porn is a sin, it primarily solves a testosterone urge: without it, men become much more aggressive. If you add radical speech by protecting it as freedom of speech, you put weapons in the hands of already testosterone crazed young men.
Add to this the freedom of bearing arms, and you get what you have today: far-right radicalization, rapes, and generally dumb young men, as they cannot focus on anything else because of their high testosterone levels.
I am not saying lack of porn is to blame for all bad things; what I am saying is the combination of these hypocrisies leads to far worse, inhumane situations, than sin.
I bet my shorts some of the politicians who voted for both blocking porn sites and allowing fascist speech are having much more fun with children than we imagine, while swearing on the Bible they are good Christians.
As a rule of thumb, every time you see a religious purist, you should expect the worst of that person.
