Family account

I’m using my iPad only when my wife and daughter are both sound asleep, all my friends, my wife’s friends, my little daughter’s friends and (!) our common friends are gone. Not because I keep the device hidden, but because I don’t.

So, there are some 3-6 people a day that are playing with the iPad; some of them are willing and may need to customize some of the apps and settings, but this customization is lost as the user switches. (strike 1)

More than that, the notifications (calendar alarms, pushed IM messages, pushed emails etc) are sent most of the time to somebody not interested, which happens to keep the device at that instance. Like this: “Mister Ema’s father, your iPad is saying you should not forget to passcode the porn channels!”… (strike 2)

So, I’d say some sort of “family account” or “family settings” could be a good iDea… I am not too happy switching accounts, inhibiting alarms, calendars and notifications just because my other “extension” is not with me.

I know, this annoying thing could be a driver for each family member to have his / her own iPad; but let’s be realistic here: how many computers do I also need to activate,  maintain and sync all the iPads?
